Happy New Year! We wish everyone a happy and healthy new year!
If it's snowing out, is the office still open?
Now that winter weather has arrived, please note that we very rarely close due to snow. If there is ever a snowy day when you have an appointment that you feel you need to cancel or reschedule, please call us as soon as possible. We do understand that snow makes driving difficult and sometimes dangerous, so we make exceptions to our 24 hour cancellation policy, as long as you call us - so that we don't sit and worry that you have had an accident. We would rather see you and your child on another day than have you driving in bad weather when you don't feel comfortable or safe.
In the unlikely event that we ever close for any reason, we will always call everyone on the schedule, as soon as possible - usually before 8:00AM to let you know.
Did you know?
Dr. Albert has extended his hours on Thursday evenings.
To accommodate patients who can not schedule appointments in the 9:00-5:00 office hours,
we are now scheduling routine and urgent visits up until 6:00PM on Thursdays.

Is Your Child Immunized Against the Influenza Virus? (Our team is - we have all received our flu vaccination for this season.

Dr. Albert is now offering the flu vaccines as early as 7:00am each day (except Thursdays and weekends).
On these days, "Flu-shot-only" visits will be available for scheduling from 7:00AM - 8:00AM.

Please call us at 518-273-3732 to schedule the flu vaccine for your child.

You can also now find Hoosick Street Pediatrics on Facebook!

Please plan ahead for your child's annual physical.  Some health plans/insurances have a calendar year benefit, which means your child is eligible for their well-child visit as of January 1 of each year. In these cases, we will contact you to try to schedule the visit as soon as medically reasonable (i.e. if your child had their annual well-child visit in December, we would not try to schedule the visit in January.)

For CDPHP members with Medicaid or Child Health Plus, you may be eligible to receive a gift card for completing specific health care services. You can call CDPHP at 518-641-3280 to see if you qualify to receive gift cards of up to $50.00 when you bring your child for their annual well-child visit, flu vaccination, annual dental visit, and other services.

We ask that you allow us at least 3 business days to complete any forms needed for school, camp, daycare, etc...
Please do not wait until the last minute.
Please note that Dr. Albert will be out of the office starting March 2nd and returning on March 11th.

Office Hours
Announcing new extended hours on Thursdays! These appointments are to help parents who may not be able to make it to appointments during regular business hours. This is in addition to Dr. Albert's policy of extending his day to see all "same-day sick" appointments every business day.  Dr. Albert will also schedule well-child visits as early as 8:00, if it is the only time some patients can be here.
Monday 8:30 AM 5:00 PM
Tuesday 8:30 AM 5:00 PM
Wednesday 8:30 AM 5:00 PM
Thursday 1:00 PM 6:00 PM
Friday 8:30 AM 5:00 PM

The hours listed above are office hours for Dr. Albert. On Thursdays, while Dr. Albert starts at 1:00, Marisol and Scott are here to take your calls by 8:30.

Monday - Friday, Marisol and/or Scott will be here to answer your calls as early as 8:30, but you can always call and leave a message with the answering service and you may receive a call back from our office even earlier than 8:30 on most days.

We close for lunch each day from 11:45 - 1:00. Our answering service is on during this time and will take messages.

Please note that the office closes for Memorial Day, The Fourth of July,  Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday), Christmas Day, and New Years Day.

We believe that your primary care physician should be involved in every step of your child's care.
Dr. Albert is almost always able to see a sick patient on the same day that you call.
If he is not available, there is always an on-call physician that you can speak with.

Hoosick Street Pediatrics believes in the Medical Home philosophy.  We follow evidence-based care, following guidelines and recommendations set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), NY State Department of Health, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and others.

We follow AAP and ACIP recommendations for well-child visits and immunization schedule.

Many issues are better addressed with an appointment in your Medical Home:
  • Unless it is a true emergency, call us when your child is ill - Dr. Albert (or the on-call physician) can help you decide if you should come here or if you should go to an emergency room/urgent care
  • Follow up of any issue (ear infection, cough, fevers)
  • Chronic (long term) concerns (asthma, constipation, acne, headaches, etc...)
  • Behavioral issues
  • Annual routine physicals
  • Immunizations – ideally done at the medical home so records remain complete

Please let us know if your child receives an immunization at any other location, such as a pharmacy or a specialist's office (allergist, for example).
This is extremely important, so that we can keep your child's medical record complete.

If you ever find yourself running late to an appointment or that you can't keep an appointment, please give us a call as soon as possible.
We do our best to keep your time in the waiting room to a minimum, so that your child is not exposed to other children who may be contagious. If you are running late, it can put us behind schedule, causing delays for other patients. Also, if you can't keep the appointment, it is time that the doctor could have seen another child that needs care, so it is important to call us to let us know if we can make that time available to other patients.
Our office policy is that we require 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduled appointments, but we understand that you will not always know that far in advance - so we do ask that you call as soon as possible.
